My father, Thomas Reynolds, was a portrait painter & my mother, Bernadette, a Portuguese linguist.

I was born on 17th April 1933, the youngest of six children, & grew up in London during the war years. The war seemed to go on forever, with bombs falling, buildings crumbling, the constant wailing of sirens & total darkness.

Camberwell School of Art, where I studied, was an escape & a blessing! Amongst other things I studied wood engraving with John Buckland-Wright, a great teacher, & book-binding with another wonderful teacher whose name I have forgotten but who's kindness & guidance I will never forget.

In 1958 the accomplished Lieder singer Francis Loring & I were married.
